Job Responsibilities:

This position manages dental benefits and third-party payer activities of the ADA's Council on Dental Benefits as well as supporting public/professional volunteer committees and assisting tier 3 member service support related to the Third-Party Payer Concierge Service. These programs help educate the profession regarding third-party payer programs, monitor changing trends in the industry, maintain industry relationships to address member grievances and support member dental offices resolve issues with dental benefits payers. Education consists of developing and presenting webinars, and web content in addition to authoring articles and blogs. Industry trends are monitored by identifying data sources, analyzing trend reports and generating information packages for distribution to the Council on Dental Benefit Programs. Policy issues are analyzed through independent research and through external consultants. Support is offered to state dental association staff to understand and address member issues. This position may also assist in carrying out other projects as assigned.

Must Have:

  1. BS/BA (or 9 years minimum experience in lieu of degree)
  2. 5 years of experience in health care, managed care or insurance industry with at least 2 years' experience in dental benefits
  3. Some experience with development and delivery of presentations including webinars
  4. Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication, analytical, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, leadership and presentation development skills
  5. Knowledge of managed care or understanding of issues in dental benefit plans
  6. Ability to function in high stress, fast paced environment and apply critical thinking
  7. A self-starter, proactive/action-oriented with a customer-first approach to listening to and solving problems for member dentists and providing quality educational materials to assist dentists with third party issues
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  9. Some evening work
  10. Some travel
