The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media, seeks a smart, creative, and highly focused Junior Account Executive. Reporting to The Hill’s Head of Sales, the Junior Account Executive will be expected to manage a developmental book of business, classified advertising sales, new account onboarding procedures and account management duties related to The Hill’s live events business.

This role contributes to The Hill’s growth by assisting in the selling of digital media and cross-platform programs to a territory of associations, corporations, and coalitions. Beyond standard display and video products, we incorporate social media, newsletters, sponsored and branded content/events into client proposals.

We’re looking for solutions-based sellers - ideally with some media experience - who are well-versed in developing creative solutions for potential partners that meet and enhance their business objectives. The ideal candidate is digitally savvy with some media sales experience who is driven, strategic and accountable. S/he should have a keen interest in and knowledge of politics, policy, and the happenings on Capitol Hill. S/he should bring professionalism, a “team-first” attitude, energy, and creativity into the sales organization along with a strong desire to learn and grow in this position.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Building and executing against a strategic and aggressive plan to grow revenue by bringing in new partners while also optimizing existing relationships through up-sells and cross-sells.
  2. Selling multi-platform programs across digital, newsletters, events, print, classifieds and HillTV.
  3. Account management duties for live events partnerships and new account onboarding.
  4. Identifying creative and original streams of sponsorship revenue and strategically cultivating relationships to secure deals.
  5. Collaborating with the marketing and events teams to create sponsorship opportunities.
  6. Communicating extensively and effectively with both clients and internal teams.
  7. Creating and sustaining strong relationships with clients.
  8. Consistently exceeding sales goals.

Skills/Qualifications:

The Account Executive should be:

  • A motivated, resourceful, and responsive contributor with a focus on meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Focused on cultivating and maintaining client relationships to drive business.
  • Somewhat experienced in selling digital and print packages who is eager to learn.
  • Personally interested in and knowledgeable of advocacy and the DC advertising market.
  • A concise and effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Experienced in creating compelling, thoughtful, and unique proposals to engage potential clients and spark consultative conversation.
  • Naturally both competitive and collaborative.
  • Respectful of both colleagues and clients; a person of impeccable integrity.
