A transportation client is looking for a Benefits Analyst


Location: Orange, CA 92868

Position: Benefits Analyst

Pay Rate: $35.28-42.03/hr

Duration: 6months

Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm PST)


SUMMARY

Under general direction, performs full scope of activities related to benefits administration including but not limited to health benefits, supplemental benefits, retirement programs, and deferred compensation. Researches, analyzes, and evaluates agency benefit plans/programs to identify change initiatives.

  • Has the technical skills, product knowledge and professional skills to do the job.
  • Administers employee benefit plans. Serves as an internal consultant to management and employees as an expert in the agency’s benefits programs including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, deferred compensation, and retirement benefits.
  • Administers various other employee benefit programs including flexible benefits account, deferred compensation program, employee assistance program and benefits educational programs; research additional benefits education resources and programs; makes recommendations to human resources management for implementation; develops and coordinates health fairs and other seminars.
  • Participates in administering the annual open enrollment process

  • Operates with speed and intensity, translates long-term goals into immediate actions.
  • Prepares policies and procedures related to benefits administration; assists with preparing Board actions and proposals related to benefit contracts; assists in the negotiation of contracts for benefit services.


Solves Problems & Analyzes Issues:

  • Has and applies problem analysis and problem-solving skills on a technical and interpersonal level.
  • Assists employees with insurance plan issues or problems, oversees member eligibility updates and monthly invoice preparation/reconciliation; communicates new and revised information to employees and carriers through various media; prepares and distributes periodic employee communications.
  • Collects and analyzes competitive benefits information; participates in benefits surveys; prepares reports including statistics and graphical data; evaluates data related to claims and benefit policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Works in a Collaborative Manner with Others:

  • Works in a collaborative manner with others, helps resolve unproductive conflict.
  • Collaborates and communicates with customers as well as human resources team members to ensure benefit programs are implemented successfully; conducts employee education.


QUALIFICATION GUIDE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field and a minimum of three years professional benefits administration experience. Certified Benefits Professional designation preferred.
