It provides students with personal and regular contact so that they do well academically and socially and stay enrolled and succeed at CSU Pueblo.Description of JobThis Academic Advisor position is an integral part of the PACK Center team, focusing on student success. Advisors serve a student caseload with advising and assistance navigating academic policies and processes while connecting students to various campus resources to optimize their CSU Pueblo experience. Core responsibilities include assisting students in creating and implementing academic success plans, facilitating guidance and programs on academic success topics, and building a supportive community. Each Academic Advisor will have the opportunity to specialize in an area of focus to support all students. This position is funded by the SCALED grant through December 31st, 2027.SCALED is a multi-year, multimillion-dollar project funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Postsecondary Student Success Grant Program. The project coordinates student success efforts across CSU System campuses and is led by a team of campus leaders encompassing student success, advising, academic affairs, information technology, and institutional research.Primary DutiesCase ManagementProvides comprehensive student advising and manages a caseload of new, continuing, and transfer students attending the university; ensures a seamless transition to Faculty Advisors at the appropriate timing for the student’s major.Meets individually and in groups with students to develop structured student success plans to maximize the retention and persistence of students in their program. Offers guidance on specific academic skills such as time management, study strategies, note-taking, test preparation, and critical thinking. Develops programs, including workshops and group sessions, addressing relevant key academic success topics.Utilizes enrollment management systems to track academic progress, communicate to provide proactive outreach for interventions or make referrals based upon issues and concerns reported by students, instructors, or staff. This includes regular usage of Slate, Banner, DARS, Starfish, etc.Conducts individualized follow-up sessions to help students identify their strengths, interests, and abilities and explains how these relate to their major in the major selection and degree selection process.Provides one-on-one support to help students navigate the registration process including selecting and enrolling in courses and ensuring course alignment with their degree. Reviews and interprets academic skills and assessment for appropriate course placement.
