Roles and Responsibilities: As General Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and daily direction for sales and coaching teams in our facility. The GM is responsible for DRIVING MEMBERSHIP SALES, overseeing day-to-day activities, leading staff, coordinating personal training and team training sales, promoting membership retention and providing conflict resolution as needed. The GM will ensure efficient and effective performance to reach financial objectives, foster our core values, establish community relationships to promote our brand and drive local market awareness and engagement activities. Overall, the GM needs to create an environment that motivates and inspires all to be their best and achieve their goals.
Key Skills Required For the General Manager Position:
PROSPECTING. Be willing to contact up to 100 lead prospects a day with a goal of setting as many in-facility Consultations/Appointments and/or Trial Workouts with a goal of scheduling 60% of those you speak with.
SALES. You must be an effective CLOSER! You should be able to close over 50% of the leads you sit down to meet with.
ROLE PLAY. Daily telephone and in-person role play with staff so that our recruiters and coaches know how to ask prospects about their athletic and fitness goals and showing them how to recommend a plan that will help them achieve their goals. Teach your staff how to close.
LEADERSHIP. You should be a first-one-in, last-one-out leader. You should be able to hold weekly 1 on 1 meeting, and weekly staff meetings, hold staff accountable, & lead your team to business growth. (Must be a strong & confident leader who can handle the pressure of this big-time role.)
FINANCE. In addition to tracking sales and attrition on a daily, weekly, monthly basis, you need to have the ability to manage the facility P&L. You will meet with ownership monthly to review your budget vs what actually happened line item by line item.
MARKETING. Work with our Social Media Advertising Company to monitor progress, update materials, arrange monthly calls with Company or more often as required. Oversee all Organic Postings from staff,
This General Manager Can Expect:
To facilitate staff meetings each week covering key data points with their team & moving the needle forward by both informing & inspiring their team to take action on key changes.
To be held accountable in financial meetings to an annual budget that predicts line-by-line revenue categories, overhead categories, COGS, etc.
Working Hours - Most Group Training takes place M-F from mid afternoon up to 8:30 PM. Possible to work from home during some morning hours, but presence at the gym during Group Training is mandatory. Saturday mornings require GM presence.
To be poised when meeting & interacting with professional athletes…this GM must provide the same world-class experience to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who walks in the door
Responsibilities
Serve as a key point of contact for members, with an emphasis on providing an excellent customer experience. Duties include:
Assisting with member progress check-ins
Setting up new memberships in the POS system
Collecting and processing payments
Providing front desk sales and information
Assisting with special events
Managing all sales
Qualifications
Associate Degree
3 years of management
Can out-sell anyone in the room & loves it
Knowledge of gym and retail operations
Positive and energetic personality with a “can do” attitude
Is a manager who will be the first one in & the last one to leave
Personal Training Certification(s) a big plus
