Description

Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. We are seeking a full-time NDE Specialist to join our dynamic team. The purpose of this role is to design and execute inspection methods for welded structures at Stoke. You will be responsible for developing processes, designing tooling, and helping define the inspection criteria for the product to enable the production of a fully reusable rocket that is simple to produce. A qualified candidate will take a first principles approach in helping define Stoke inspection methods, execute on inspections, and justify acceptance criteria for ourselves and our customers. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

You will assist manufacturing AS9100 certification efforts with high efficiency and low overhead input; targeting a minimum viable product result which acts to advance company quality documentation while preserving a culture of nimble development and fast iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect Stoke welds in process, partnering with welders to deliver products per print expediently
  • Interface with engineers to align on inspection requirements and capabilities, inspection method selection, interpretation, and evaluation of data
  • Qualification and deployment of new inspection processes including documentation and execution
  • Design, prototype, and implement nondestructive sensor systems to solve manufacturing quality problems
  • Support targets and goals such as increased probability of detection, reduced cycle time, right first-time manufacture/assembly, and indication/defect reduction
  • Develop technology in emerging nondestructive methodologies for assembly, additive, and structures departments
  • Manage priorities and support a host of products simultaneously
  • Use empirical data to improve design and performance of NDE systems
  • Develop and deliver advanced nondestructive evaluation inspection solutions
  • Embody and instill Stoke values and company culture throughout organization
  • Lead in the identification, down selection, and purchase of capital inspections equipment and tooling
  • Maintain close relationships and communications with internal design customers, provide design-for-manufacturability input

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS
  • Working knowledge of surface and subsurface NDE methodologies
  • Meeting the requirements of a general vision examination
  • Nondestructive Evaluation Level II or III certification in one of the following methods: Eddy current (ET), radiography (RT), digital radiography (DR), dye penetrant (PT), visual inspection (VT), computed radiography (CR)
  • Ability to lead

Compensation

Target Levels:

  • Level 3: $38.22 - $57.31/hour
  • Level 4: $46.68 - $70.05/hour
