JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences is hiring a Financial Associate . This position supports a wide range of financial functions and funding mechanisms at the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory (ADL) at Penn State. Working with the ADL Director and/or faculty, this position will manage client billing/invoicing, assist with the preparation of grant proposals for funding agencies, manage post-award processes, reconcile purchases, prepare budget/financial reports, and other associated duties.
Responsibilities include:
Assist the ADL Director and faculty in developing budgets, workplans, and other pre-award documentation for submission of funding proposals to PA Department of Agriculture (PDA) and other funding agencies.
Carry out post-award activities for funded project(s),including allocating salaries, wages, operational expenses, equipment purchases, etc., working with College and University units as necessary.
Assist with the preparation of interim and final reports for project personnel, sponsors, and with project close-out activities.
Generate monthly invoices for services rendered and distribute (electronically or hard-copy) to ADL clients.
Receive and process payments.
Respond to inquiries from clients regarding account details and payments.
Monitor expenditures for all ADL budgets/funds, including Assistance Funds, and ensure expenditures are allocated to appropriate budgets/funds and meet sponsor/award criteria.
Produce financial reports monthly, or upon request, for ADL Director and/or Principal Investigators. Resolve budget and other award issues.
This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
Education and Experience :
This position will be filled at the level of Intermediate Support or Senior Support , depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Intermediate Support level requires a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree for education and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$38,300.00 - $61,000.00Salary Structure - additional information on Penn State's job and salary structure.
