About the Role
The Supervisor for Specimen Management is responsible for staffing, training and supervising assigned personnel within the specimen management area. This position is responsible for ensuring that his/her functional area is operating with full compliance to GLP requirements, protocol, SOP and additional sponsor requirements are communicated and met through proactive and efficient resource management. The Supervisor will overview the schedule ensuring efficient workflow and group training.
What You'll Do Here
• Ensure staff maintains Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
• Create, review and revise workload and scheduling to ensure optimal results
• Monitor progress of studies to ensure timely response, track and monitor timelines and audits
• Schedule and supervise staff in specimen management
• Determine trainings required for the group; train, manage and monitor assigned staff
• Communicate areas of accountability and expected performance to staff
• Participate in study planning and specimen management meetings
• Coordinate with study directors, coordinators, pathologists, laboratory staff, vivarium staff and shipping agencies
• Ensure the proper import permits/certificates are valid and in place before shipping specimens
• Ensure the department is meeting deadlines with accuracy, completion, consistency and GLP/SOP compliance
• Maintain documentation of procedures and equipment used and perform quality control of forms and logs
• Ensure paperwork and packages are compliant with International Air Transport (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR)
• Assist accounting with specimen shipment reconciliation, purchase order numbers and shipments sent by courier
• Monitor department areas for cleanliness, ensure availability of material, equipment, reagents and expendables
• Maintain awareness of evolving domestic and international shipping requirements
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
• Interview, hire, and train employees
• Plan, assign, and direct work
• Appraise employee performance, reward and discipline employees
• Address complaints and resolve problems
What You'll Need to Succeed
• BA/BS specializing in in a scientific discipline preferred; relevant experience considered
• 2+ years in a laboratory or regulated environment preferred
• Supervisory experience in a regulated environment preferred
• International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR) transportation safety requirements preferred
• Advanced computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; Watson experience preferred
• English proficiency both written and verbal; general reading, writing and verbal communication skills; Frech bilingual fluency preferred
• Basic maths skills
• Strong cross-team collaboration/communication
• Flexibility and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Effectively manage change
• Strong detail-orientation with problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
• Effective management skills
What We Offer
The pay range estimated for this position is $67,725 to $85,000 per year. Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
