Providence Executive Director, Release Management and Operations

This position is hybrid/remote and can sit in the footprint of Providence in the states of AK, WA, OR, CA, TX and MT. Preferably in, Renton/Seattle, WA, Portland/Beaverton, OR, or Irvine, CA office locations. Full-time hybrid position with possible required travel up to 10% of work schedule.

The Executive Director oversees release management and operations management for the Enterprise Business Applications pillar under the direction of the Group VP. Key responsibilities of this role include leading operations management and release management for our enterprise business applications, including but not limited to Oracle Cloud ERP, Strata, and UKG-Pro, RFsmart, etc.

This position is responsible for leading, mentoring and developing managers as well as other staff. This position will work in close collaboration with VPs, Directors, managers and other leaders and staff across the system.

This position will create and successfully execute strategic plans for highly complex issues involving business and information services monitoring, operations and support. It will also work to standardize complex and disparate processes and methodologies related to deployment of enterprise business operations.

Release Management

  1. Develops and manages the deployment of enhancement and changes to the Providence’s ERP, budgeting, timekeeping, and workforce management platforms to new affiliations and restructuring projects.
  2. Leading the effort to define environment needs and requirements.
  3. Managing updates and upgrades, planned down time, and refresh schedules.
  4. Oversees development and maintenance of documentation of technical infrastructure, policies and procedures.
  5. Manages enterprise change control, downtime, disaster recovery, and cut over / go-live planning.
  6. Enforces strict adherence to enterprise change controls policies and procedures.
  7. Participates in 24/7 on call activities and in disaster recovery drills as needed.

Operations Monitoring

  1. Leads operations management for all applications in the EBA portfolio.
  2. Incident (MI, Tickets, etc.) management/oversight across EBA workstreams including Functional, Technical & Infrastructure.
  3. Driving accountability and ownership against operational metrics across cross-functional pillars.
  4. Analysis, reporting, pattern analysis & business intelligence.
  5. Development and management of KPIs.

Leadership

  1. Supports functional business partners and executives.
  2. Identifies and assesses deployment road maps and requirements.
  3. Effectively manages vendor and stakeholder relationships.
  4. Attracts, hires, trains, motivates, retains, and develops a team of first-rate professionals.

Essential Functions:

STRATEGIC

  1. Develops and implements appropriate release processes and communications.
  2. Driving accountability, ownership and optimization across cross-functional pillars against SLA metrics.
  3. Works with leaders of IS Strategy and COE in ensuring adherence to standards, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of application systems.
  4. Ensures that EBA supports Providence IS services and systems effectively to meet business needs.
  5. Maintains relationships with key business partners and other senior leaders in the IT industry in order to leverage best practices.

MANAGEMENT

  1. Oversees budgeting and expenditures for applications, staff and services within their span of control.
  2. A proven ability to build an organization and provide responsive leadership; to delegate, coordinate and motivate staff, and to evaluate performance.
  3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and facilitate teamwork with multidisciplinary group, building and reaching consensus; agreeing upon a course of action where there are multiple perspectives.
  4. Conducts regular staff and team meetings.
  5. Facilitates teamwork, including defining roles and responsibilities and assessing required skill mix. Works with executives to acquire appropriate resources as needed.
  6. Completes personnel evaluations and offers assistance and counseling for career development as well as for job performance issues.

OPERATIONAL

  1. Assists in the development of and monitors compliance with policies and procedures for Application Services that impact all of Providence.
  2. Maintains, and operates departmental Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreements, and associated KPIs.
  3. Escalates critical issues, problems or delays in production, projects or any other issues that has an impact on the customer.
  4. Actively participates in optimizing processes and leads initiatives to improve service delivery, increase value and promote customer service.
  5. Maintains daily operations and implementation of secure, reliable, and scalable applications and process that support the growth and financial objectives of Providence St. Joseph Health.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services, Engineering, CPA/CA, Finance or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. Master’s Degree (preferred). Area of study: Information Services, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related IS or healthcare field.
  3. 10 or more years closely related experience.
  4. 10 or more years Information Services leadership experience.
  5. 5 years Working in a healthcare environment.
  6. 3 years leadership in an IS Application environment.
