As a Senior Director, you’ll manage and oversee the IMG relationships with Nationwide Financial (NF) business units’ product and distribution teams and asset management firms. You’ll lead design efforts with businesses to understand menu requirements and competitive needs. In addition, you’ll be responsible for leading efforts to define strategic asset manager relationships for Nationwide Financial Leadership Team (NFLT) and Senior Vice President of Distribution. You have opportunities to provide investment consulting and fiduciary support to largest NF clients and intermediaries. We’ll depend on you to be the primary contact with product and distribution teams to handle all investment related requests, develop insights into business needs and provide market insights.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Establishes and monitors product menus for VA, VL, NBSG and NRS that meet investment quality and business requirements. Coordinates research requirements with IMG Investment Research team to ensure investment research commitment to business are maintained. Provides ongoing reporting of investment menu performance against predetermined metrics.
  • Participates in and influences strategic discussions to incorporate investment considerations into business strategic initiatives.
  • Identifies opportunities for IMG product development and placement within business menus and unaffiliated institutional platforms.
  • Provides ongoing investment support to distribution teams to meet sales goals of various products.
  • Incorporates competitive intelligence insights to identify opportunities with product and distribution teams.
  • Develops strategic direction for investment consulting by defining and demonstrating investment consulting as a core competency that provides measurable benefits to profitable growth of NF businesses.
  • Supports wholesaler training by establishing and maintaining processes to provide investment training and materials.
  • Manages and oversees processes related to portfolio design and mapping to position NF products with primary distribution partners.
  • Oversees wholesaling efforts of IMG products within NF products. Develops materials and leads presentations to wholesalers and advisors on specific products and positioning within portfolios.
  • Oversees wholesaler support of unaffiliated institutional sales efforts of Nationwide Mutual Funds.
  • Leads team that defines strategic asset manager relationships and documents activities and results of strategic partner firms.
  • Leads and develops team of consultants and analysts of various levels. Provides coaching and feedback to direct reports and other IMG and NF associates.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President, Business and Product Development - IMG. Directs team of Directors and Consultants of various levels and has indirect reports of various levels.

Typical Skills and Experiences :

Education: Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field. MBA or CFA preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 or 7, 24, 63 and 65 or 66 required.

Experience: More than years requisite experience leading investment teams, preferably in mutual funds or similar products. Experience in the distribution of investment products to institutional and individual investors. Experience operating in a fiduciary capacity delivering investment advice a plus.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of all significant investment management products and services, including a detailed knowledge of all business and market trends that will impact these products. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a high-functioning team. Proactive, innovative and creative skill set to meet client and enterprise needs. Ability to motivate others and build cooperative team. Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Proven ability to effectively collaborate with others, initiate action and adapt to change.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
