Job Summary
The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled. There is currently ONE position open in our Fiscal Services Department. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position.
Under direction of an assigned supervisor, perform responsible technical duties related to the acquisition of supplies, equipment, and materials for the District; purchase quantity items economically, efficiently and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements / Qualifications
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by coursework in purchasing procedures and three years of increasingly responsible purchasing experience. Possession of an A.A. (two-year) degree, with an emphasis in Business Administration, from an accredited educational institution is highly desirable.
Knowledge of
Basic principles, methods, practices, and procedures of quantity buying techniques in public sector purchasing.
Products, pricing, and sources of supply.
Federal, State and local laws and regulations governing purchasing by a school district.
Symbols and terminology used in purchasing.
Financial and inventory record-keeping procedures.
Methods, practices, and terminology used to prepare and maintain financial records and reports.
Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Operation of a computer and assigned software.
Oral and written communication skills.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
