The primary objective of the Regional Product Strategy Manager at Franklin Templeton (FT) is to identify trends within markets and distribution channels to develop recommendations for new and existing products within the US Product lineup.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Regional Product Strategy Manager?

Product Management & Development

  • Evaluates market, regulatory, industry, competitor, and investment trends and determines potential implications for FT product ranges.
  • Interprets research and identifies product opportunities within channel/area of responsibility, including new product ideas or changes to existing product positioning.

Product Strategy

  • Identifies gaps within existing product range and develops product proposals to capitalize on investment trends and changing client needs.
  • Determines product attributes and key features and establishes competitive fee structure for new products.
  • With guidance, recommends new product strategy ideas or approaches.
  • Understands changes in client needs and determines rationale to further evolve and build product range.
  • Evaluates the feasibility of product proposals with Specialized Investment Managers (SIMs) and distribution teams.

Client Engagement & Partnership

  • Works with distribution teams and may meet with external clients (advisors, consultants, global financial institutions) to identify key areas of current and future client investment needs.
  • Incorporates feedback from clients and distribution teams into the product development process.
  • Delivers presentations and training to senior leadership and Fund Boards.
  • Independently communicates information on product development lifecycle and assists in advising internal stakeholders on appropriate product positioning and product placement.
  • Builds relationships and trust with local distribution teams.
  • With guidance, communicates investment trends or areas of potential product development, within channel/area of responsibility.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. MBA a plus.
  • 5-8 years of product strategy/management experience with a financial institution, consultant, or plan sponsor.
  • CFA or progress towards completion is preferred.
  • Series 7 preferred.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets with a working knowledge of multiple asset classes.
  • Strong knowledge of industry data (eVestment, Morningstar Direct, Lipper, Simfund etc).
  • Strong data skillset with an ability to efficiently leverage Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to create high caliber presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of the US Retail and Institutional market.
  • Experience working with a variety of investment vehicles.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding and a desire to maintain expert knowledge of industry developments, regulatory and market trends, pricing, products & techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of PowerBI.

Compensation Range

Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary—designed to support the whole person and to recognize their time, talents, and results. Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $130,000 - $160,000.
