About the Role

Manning Kass has an exciting opportunity for a Law and Motion / Appellate attorney, with at least 2 years of experience, to join our Law and Motion and Appeals Team in our New York City Office!

Our Law and Motion and Appeals Team enhances everything our litigators do in other practice areas. From assisting in devising litigation strategy at the inception of a case to developing cogent law-and-motion strategy to maximize the potential of prevailing on dispositive and non-dispositive motions to performing trial support and extraordinary writ back-up, our Law and Motion and Appeals Team is actively involved long before a notice of appeal is ever filed.

Responsibilities

• Draft pretrial motions and oppositions, including pleading-related motions, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.
• Appear at hearings on pre-trial law and motion matters.
• Draft trial motions and assist with preparing trial documents, including motions in limine, trial briefs, pocket briefs, and jury instructions and verdicts.
• Drafting post-trial motions, including motions for new trial and motions for attorney’s fees.
• Opportunity to handle appellate cases and conduct appellate arguments, including learning from the firm's experienced appellate practitioners.
• Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to clients and litigation attorneys on complex legal issues.
• Analyze and assess litigation and appellate strategies.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• General experience with challenging pleadings, including but not limited to Motion to Dismiss, Anti-SLAPP Motions and Motions for Summary Judgment.
• Federal Court experience is a plus!
• Demonstrable experience researching, writing, analyzing, and handling cases.
• Detail-oriented with excellent writing, communication, and case analysis abilities.

• Competitive salary range of $120,000 - $160,000 plus bonus. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
