Director of Talent | Oshkosh District Network Office

OVERVIEW

With direction and partnership of leadership, this role supports the Network Office talent growth and recruitment efforts. He or she has a primary responsibility to build high-level quality relationships in the office, community, and to promote the Northwestern Mutual career, generate internal referrals, and develop brand advocates. He or she plays a key role in creating and leading the recruiting strategies to reach activity and contract goals. Critical competencies in this position include Innovation, priority setting, exceptional communication skills, decision quality, and drive to achieve.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (but are not limited to):

Sourcing and Branding

  1. Build and develop effective referral sources within the office, community advocates, and from a variety of other sources that generate qualified leads.
  2. Actively participate in community clubs and organizations to promote the office, company brand, and new prospects.
  3. Take ownership of internal and external relationships that drive candidate pipeline growth.
  4. Partner with Network Office Internship Program leaders and College Campus leaders to cultivate high quality relationships and endearment of Northwestern Mutual Internship Program.
  5. Partner with Network Office Internship Program leaders to support, innovate, and drive results of specific programs including College Financial Representative Conversion (CFR), Young Professional Growth Academy (YPGA), and Post Graduate Financial Advisor Program.
  6. Talent support for advisors to source for specific roles.
  7. Coordinate and collaborate on recruitment marketing strategies with Talent Team.

Selection

  1. Partner with Digital Recruiting Lead to review resumes and schedule interviews.
  2. Own full cycle recruiting process, including but not limited to screening candidates, conducting first interviews, administering screening tools, and guiding candidates through the process.
  3. Maintain integrity and consistency of the process; communicate with candidates at each step.
  4. Be knowledgeable on all aspects of the financial representative career.
  5. Lead evaluation discussion of candidate with internal stakeholders.
  6. Manage the transition of candidates from recruitment to onboarding, including the Contract, Licensing and Registration process, as well as training and development.

Onboarding

  1. Coordinate initial onboarding schedule with candidate.
  2. Oversee any pre-contract training to be done by the candidate.
  3. Partner with Talent Coordinator and Onboarding Leaders to successfully onboard candidate to National Training Program.

Leadership

  1. Identify and lead implementation of improvements to the selection process with Executive Director of Talent.
  2. Collaborate with Talent Team on development of recruiting strategies and activities.
  3. Advise leaders on best approach to attracting the right talent.
  4. Research and share innovative recruitment strategies.
  5. Participate in company and industry training programs to improve the selection skills.
  6. Use NM Talent System to maintain accurate records in candidate database.
  7. Prepare reports and results for leadership team meetings; coordinate regular meetings to review, assess, and establish actions based on the data.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree; or 5+ years of equivalent work experience.
  2. 5+ years of progressively responsible work experience, preferably in sales, recruiting, or related field.
  3. Experience in the financial services or related industry is desired.
  4. Strong communication skills required with the ability to build rapport and influence others.
  5. Experience with prospecting; generating leads via phone or face-to-face interactions preferred.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing platforms.
  7. Strong network of personal/professional advocates or community involvement.
  8. High degree of initiative and achievement drive.
  9. Demonstrated use of time management skills.
  10. High degree of organizational skills.
