I. General Summary

The Executive Director oversees orthopedic, cardiac (cardiology and cardiac surgery), and primary care service lines and will work in concert with the SVP of Clinical Integration & SVP of Value-Based Care to drive sustainable growth of these clinical services and value-based care through provider network development that supports innovative payment models and cost-efficient care delivery.

This role will lead the development of care delivery models within these service lines that support the strategic plan of the organization. The Executive Director will also administer special projects as directed by the SVP of Clinical Administration and SVP of Value-Based Care.

II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Leads designated service line development initiatives, strategic priorities, special projects, physician recruitment, and practice acquisition.
  • Develops and drives strategies that support innovative payment models, promote system-level value-based care initiatives, and develop clinical infrastructure that moves toward value-based care in designated service lines. Demonstrates innovation in the development and implementation of cost reduction strategies. Monitors productivity to ensure a balance of fiscal responsibility to provision of services to patients and physicians.
  • Leads key initiatives, in concert with department chiefs, to integrate designated service lines for efficient, high-quality care delivery in appropriate care settings.
  • Accountable for leading targeted growth initiatives for the assigned areas including, but not limited to, value-based care programs, service line development, and physician group development.
  • Maintains awareness of the current and potential competitive forces in the marketplace and ensures that the entity is well positioned to execute the strategic vision as outlined in the organization’s strategic plan for these designated service lines.

III. Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Health Administration or related field. (Required)
  • 8+ years of relevant experience within complex health systems, in a leadership capacity.

IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Candidate should have relevant experience and demonstrated success in business development and service line administration.
  • Experience in an Integrated Healthcare Delivery System.
  • Experience with payer relations, service line operations, marketing, clinical program development, and alternate payment models.
  • Experience managing multiple, large-scale, complex projects.
  • Strong skills in developing and implementing operating plans and analyzing both financial and quality data.
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding and implementation of population health strategies.
  • Strong and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage teams and display strong financial acumen.
  • Experience managing physician relationships.
