Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Data Architect to design, implement, and optimize comprehensive data warehousing solutions on the cloud, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery and Lakehouse architecture. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud architecture, data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling, and big data technologies.

The Sr Data Architect will influence a vision for data platform interoperability, integrated tooling, and observability. This role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and non-functional requirements into data models for analytics and technical solutions aligned with technology strategy. It would include dimensional models, data flows, and other solution details to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability while aligning with business objectives.

In this role, you will partner with business leaders to define and uphold data quality, develop data architecture tailored to data governance, and contribute to the democratization of data through effective data models, metrics definition, and metadata documentation.

Responsibilities

  1. Own Nordstrom’s overall data warehouse architecture
  2. Design, architect, and maintain the data warehouse infrastructure to support current analytics, ML & AI needs and address future challenges
  3. Create and maintain data models, architecture patterns, and schemas that consider security, performance, scalability, and business needs
  4. Implement tools to support data modeling, orchestration, and data pipelines
  5. Develop and manage data pipelines, ensuring data quality, reliability, and scalability
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs
  7. Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, procedures, and best practices to manage data integrity, quality, and lifecycle
  8. Ensure alignment between batch and real-time architecture requirements
  9. Maintain detailed documentation of data architecture and systems to ensure all team members can understand and implement the systems effectively
  10. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data engineering and analytics

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
  2. 10+ years of direct experience in Big Data, Data Warehousing, Data Analytics, and/or Information Management related projects
  3. 6+ years of direct experience in cloud data solution architectures, design, and development including ETL, data warehousing, data lakes, and big data
  4. 5+ years of experience using SQL including development of stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
  5. 5+ years of direct experience with one or more database/data warehouse technologies (e.g., Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Teradata, Redshift, Snowflake)
  6. 5+ years of direct experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations. Washington: $120,500 - $220,500 Annually. This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
