We are adding members to support our Collaboration and Support Center (CSC) Team based out of midtown Atlanta, GA. This on-site position has up to 25% travel to the CSC and operating facilities. The CSC team partners with operating facilities to provide technology in the form of analytics and remote monitoring and diagnosis to anticipate and solve problems across our 140 manufacturing sites across North America. The team uses the best available technology with an enterprise-wide approach and focuses primarily on Asset Health, Process Optimization, Computer Vision, and Automation. Georgia Pacific is searching for a highly entrepreneurial, experienced manufacturing IT/OT candidate to lead the development and execution of digital services to operations.

Our Team

The Systems Engineer will focus on the enabling technical aspects of the specific services the CSC offers. Working closely with manufacturing sites and IT teams, they will be responsible for installation, development, cyber security, reliability, quality, performance, etc., of the underlying hardware (e.g., sensors, gateways, servers, communications technology) and software (e.g., data pipelines, analytics, and user experience).

What You Will Do

  • Build reliability into the existing service areas through sensor health, IO, server health, data collection, and data flows that yield highly reliable remote services.
  • Monitor advancements in the marketplace and facilitate decisions related to buy vs. build.
  • Work closely with the IT team to ensure proper access, authentication, and usage of IT/OT assets.
  • Work with enterprise architecture teams to establish technical standards that facilitate scaling products across assets and facilities quickly.
  • Ensure IT/OT monitoring technologies are functioning efficiently and effectively on a 24/7 basis across operating facilities.
  • Ensure that technologies and architectures are functionally, technically, and commercially advantaged.
  • Maintain an IT/OT development and deployment backlog/roadmap/schedule by facility and facilitate on-time delivery as services are scaled to new sites.
  • Influence cross-functional teams.
  • Define and establish data and process governance in collaboration with other SMEs
  • Respectfully challenge at all levels of the organization.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technical field
  • Hands-on or practical experience with:
  • Digital and Analog sensors (e.g., process, vibration, electrical, imaging, etc.), associated repeaters, and , gateways, where applicable
  • Process control communication architectures (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Control-Net, Device-Net, Modbus. Etc.)
  • Experience working with machine vision cameras in manufacturing facilities (Cognex, SICK, Basler (GigE))

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Knowledge of Client/Server HMI/SCADA systems and historians (GE, Wonderware, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Ignition, OSI PI, HighByte, etc.)
  • Experience in managing large, complex hardware/software development projects
  • IT Communication architectures (e.g., LAN, Wireless LAN, LTE/CBRS, LP-WAN, VPN, etc.)
  • System integration from concept to production
  • Working knowledge of IT technologies applied in manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a consultative and cooperative manner with multiple stakeholders, such as engineers, data scientists, developers, and architects.
  • Experience (models, configuration, and/or application) working with computer vision libraries (OpenCV, others) and IP cameras using Python
  • Experience working with DCS systems such as Experion, DeltaV, or Aspentech.
  • Experience working with automated guided vehicles (AGVs)
