DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Film Distribution Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that a film reaches its audience through the most effective channels. Here are the primary roles and responsibilities:
- Securing Distribution Deals: Negotiate and finalize deals with distributors, streaming platforms, theaters, and international partners to secure optimal release strategies.
- Developing Release Strategies: Design and implement strategies for the film's release, including selecting the right distribution platforms (theatrical, digital, home entertainment), release dates, and regions.
- Market Research: Conduct research on audience demographics, market trends, and competitor films to inform distribution strategies and maximize reach.
- Budgeting and Financial Planning: Create and manage distribution budgets, ensuring that marketing and promotional costs align with the film’s financial projections.
- Collaborating with Marketing Teams: Work closely with marketing teams to promote the film through advertising, PR campaigns, and social media strategies to drive audience engagement.
- Managing Film Festivals and Screenings: Organize and manage film festival submissions, premiere events, and special screenings to generate buzz and secure additional distribution channels.
- Monitoring Distribution Performance: Track the performance of the film across various platforms (theaters, VOD, streaming), using data analytics to assess viewership, box office earnings, and audience reception.
- Handling Licensing and Legal Compliance: Ensure that all distribution agreements comply with legal requirements, intellectual property laws, and regional licensing regulations.
- Overseeing International Distribution: Work with foreign distributors to adapt the film for international markets, including subtitling, dubbing, and adjusting promotional strategies based on local preferences.
- Revenue Management: Monitor revenue streams from different platforms and ensure the timely and accurate collection of royalties and distribution fees.
