Responsibilities:
- Working independently, under general supervision, designs and executes experiments at a professional level in a laboratory focused on mucosal immunology research.
- Identifies, establishes, and develops new techniques; modifies existing techniques as appropriate.
- Collaborates with other members of the research team to give input on the development of design protocols.
- Collects, documents, calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data for presentations and publications.
- May orient, train, and supervise other lab members.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently performs complex or novel experiments, including in vivo assays, flow cytometry, DNA/RNA/protein isolation and quantification, molecular biology techniques (Gel Electrophoresis, qPCR, Western blot, ELISA), tissue culture, microscopy, and various immunological assays.
- Animal care and husbandry; assists with complex in vivo tumor and colitis models, tissue sample collection and preparation, and maintenance of animal colonies using database software.
- Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data; proficient with Excel and GraphPad Prism; experience with FloJo software is a plus.
- Helps prepare presentations and manuscripts for publication.
- Collaborates with lab members to establish new and modify existing research techniques.
Qualifications:
BS or equivalent with 2-4 years of experience in a related research setting.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:
- Sound analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities.
- Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data statistically and present it logically.
Working Conditions:
The work environment will be in a standard research laboratory setting. Animal experimentation and husbandry are routinely performed.
