My client, a PE-backed clean energy firm that redevelop underutilized hydropower plants throughout the US, are looking to hire their first dedicated HR Director.
As they expand operations, they are establishing a new remote operations office in Albany, NY, and are seeking a dynamic HR Director to lead HR functions and support growing out the team.
Position Overview:
As the HR Director, you will play a critical role in setting up and managing our remote operations office in Albany. You will oversee all HR activities, including recruiting top talent for engineering and operational roles, managing payroll and compensation, and ensuring comprehensive benefits administration. Your leadership will be key in shaping our HR strategy and creating a supportive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Office Setup and HR Strategy:
Lead the establishment of the remote operations office in Albany, including setting up HR systems, policies, and procedures.
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives and growth plans.
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
Design and execute recruiting strategies to attract and hire engineers, operations staff, and other key roles for our power plants and remote operations.
Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, create job descriptions, and conduct interviews.
Payroll and Compensation:
Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Develop and manage compensation structures, including salary benchmarks, bonuses, and incentives.
Benefits Administration:
Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding benefits.
Employee Relations and Performance Management:
Foster a positive work environment and address employee concerns and grievances.
Implement performance management processes, including evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports to guide decision-making and improve HR practices.
Training and Development:
Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and career development.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR) preferred.
Experience in HR within a renewable energy company or similar preferred
Proven experience (7+ years) in HR management, with a focus on recruitment, compensation, and benefits.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
Experience in setting up and managing HR functions for a remote office or start-up environment is highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
