Job Overview: The Construction Estimator is responsible for accurately assessing the costs, materials, labor, and time required to complete construction projects. This role involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation, as well as liaising with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. The estimator must ensure that all bids and estimates are comprehensive and competitive, contributing to the successful planning and execution of construction projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to gather necessary project information.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate project conditions and constraints.
  • Prepare detailed project estimates, including breakdowns of costs by trade or work type.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Monitor project costs, making adjustments and updates to estimates as necessary.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Provide value engineering suggestions to reduce costs without compromising quality.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, bids, and presentations for potential clients.
  • Track and analyze historical cost data to improve accuracy of future estimates.
  • Report on cost discrepancies, risks, and opportunities to project management teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years in an Estimator role- working on mixed commercial projects $15M+
