Program Summary
The mission of the Legal Services team is to provide direct legal services to our most vulnerable community members. We are a multidisciplinary team with immigration law, Disability Law, and family Law units. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with and receive mentorship from attorneys with diverse specialties, credentials, and experiences across these disciplines.
Position Summary
This position manages IRCO’s Family Legal Services program under the broader Legal Services umbrella. Responsibilities include representing clients, liaising with funder and colleague agencies, ensuring quality client outcomes, completing funder-required reports, and implementing standards, forms, and processes. The position will represent members of our immigrant and refugee communities in family law proceedings in the Portland metro area. The Family Law Managing Attorney will have the opportunity to recruit, select, and hire a Legal Assistant and other direct reports as the Family Law program grows.
Essential Functions
- Represent survivors of domestic violence in their family law matters including guardianship, child custody, divorce, and restraining orders (including trial).
- Review contracts from funders with the Legal Services Sector Manager; understand contract conditions such as deliverables, eligibility guidelines for clients receiving services, and reporting requirements; ensure compliance.
- Self-manage a case load and contribute to data collection, reporting, and advocacy to funders.
- Supervise a Legal Assistant.
- Recruit, select, and hire a team as the program grows, beginning with one Legal Assistant.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written filings as part of ongoing representation.
- Communicate and collaborate with IRCO’s immigration and disability legal services units and our Survivor’s Services department, as well as other local non-profit service providers.
- Creatively design processes and procedures to support efficient workflow.
- Participate in conversations with private and public funders; work with agency Development Team to support proposals made to various funding sources; and engage in long-term growth and sustainability planning.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Positions at this level are normally responsible for full managerial responsibility including providing direction to other supervisors/ managers regarding the supervision of their staff. Supervisory span will include direct and indirect reports.
