MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Required bachelor's degree in human services, education, or related field of study in addition to two years of previous direct work experience in a culturally diverse environment.
- Prior work/volunteer experience specifically working with refugees a plus.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrated success in working effectively in a multicultural setting.
- Culturally humble and sensitive to the needs of refugees, immigrants and asylees.
- Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues and other community agencies and service providers.
- Strong communication, cross-cultural, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to navigate effectively through bureaucratic systems.
- Proficient computer, writing and event coordination skills.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Must be sensitive to the service population's culture and must have the ability to communicate in a culturally competent manner.
- Must be proactive and create a cooperative, professional, and positive relationship with clients.
- Must be able to assist clients to solve difficult problems under pressure.
- Must be able to consistently work towards self-sufficiency with all clients and reflect the mission and the goals of Catholic Charities with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Attend regular meetings, case consultations, and assist with the development of crisis mitigation strategies.
- Able to keep informed of the social services policies and practices in all counties and localities where clients are resettling.
- Flexible to work irregular hours. Some evening and weekend work will be required from time to time. Refugee services staff rotate on-call work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Office products.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, have at least two years of driving experience, and be willing to drive clients.
- Fluency in Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Russian, Swahili, Rohinga, or Farsi.
