Kitchell is currently seeking a Senior Project Estimator to for our team in Houston, Texas and contribute to the growth and success of our Houston office.This is an opportunity to build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.
The Senior Project Estimator provides conceptual and detailed cost projections; manage the bid process for competitive bid negotiated projects; participates in the supervising and training of assigned estimators and maintain overall cost control templates and databases.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare project estimates, develop project cost summaries, present and explain results and recommendations.
• Provide training for Project Estimators, review their work and perform estimate reconciliation.
• Analyze concepts and schematic designs to prepare estimates.
• Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
• Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
• Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
• Organize and lead efforts on competitive bid projects awarded on either lump sum or GMP basis.
• Quantify and price all trade scopes and assembly estimates using Excel and/or Timberline.
• Review all estimates and bids with Estimating Manager and Operations assigned Project Executive before submission to clients.
• Lead estimating efforts on large, multi-phase projects under CMAR, Design-Build, or IPD contract structure.
• Develop preliminary bid lists and bid posting templates. Review all bidder lists with Estimating Manager.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field required.
• Minimum 10 years position related work experience in project estimating or related field required.
Knowledge and Skills
Desired:
• Previous experience in estimating and preparing conceptual estimates.
• High degree of construction knowledge and analytical skill required.
• Computer experience using Excel and Onscreen.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential.
Work Environment
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a climate controlled office environment.
