A forward-thinking intellectual property law firm is seeking a highly skilled Patent Agent with a background in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Computer Engineering (CE). The successful candidate must be eligible to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The role offers the flexibility to work remotely or in the firm's Atlanta, GA office. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about technology and intellectual property protection, with opportunities for both recent graduates and experienced professionals.

Duties:

  • Assist clients with preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering, and related disciplines.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability of innovations.
  • Work with inventors to capture and protect their technological innovations.
  • Draft patent applications and respond to office actions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other professionals on intellectual property strategy and portfolio management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant patent laws, rules, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Eligibility to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong interest in technology and intellectual property protection.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in patent prosecution and patentability analysis is preferred, though recent graduates with relevant technical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered or eligible for registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
