Cost Accountant

Our client is looking for a Sr. Staff Accountant/Cost Accountant to join their team! This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a mature start-up in the commercial medical device industry, poised for growth through a strong partnership with a Fortune 100 company.

This role reports to the CFO and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting duties including managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, expense management, and bank reconciliation.

Job Details:

• Location: San Diego, CA 92130
• Onsite (1 day of week remote)
• Salary Range: $78,000 – $90,000 (offer based on experience)
• Contract to Hire (3-4 months before conversion)
• If converted, rich benefit package; Blue Cross Anthem medical/dental/vision, 90% coverage for employee/80% for dependents; 401k

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Managing Full Cycle Accounting: Maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions within the legal entity.
• Purchase Order Management: Take ownership of the purchase order process, including creation, oversight, and tracking.
• Expense Management and Oversight: Supervise and approve expense management processes, including expense approvals and payments.
• Payroll Processing and Analysis: Manage payroll processing for workforce, including both salaried and hourly employees (via Paylocity).
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present monthly financial results packages (budget-to-actual analysis, forecast-to-actual analysis, trending analysis, etc.). Ensure compliance with SOX 404 requirements.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
• Previous Manufacturing / cost accounting experience
• GAAP and SOX experience
• Proficient with ERP environments, Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel
