Position: Vice President, Data Science

The Vice President, Data Science will be responsible for setting the overall vision and strategy for data science within the organization. This role involves leading a team of data scientists, collaborating with senior leadership, and leveraging data to inform strategic decisions and drive business growth. In addition, the Vice President will support the development of machine learning and AI solutions that enable Monogram’s operations. This position will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data science strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives and enhances overall business performance.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists and analysts building a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with other executives and departments to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making and to ensure that data science initiatives align with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the creation of predictive models and algorithms that inform key business decisions, enhance customer experiences, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Lead quantitative analyses of the impact of Monogram programs/initiatives with an emphasis on the use of sound statistical principles for causal inference.
  • Effectively communicate insights and findings to stakeholders at all levels, translating complex data concepts into actionable strategies.
  • Work with program owners to understand the goals, key performance measures, and operational details of programs to ensure analyses are aligned with program intent.
  • Create and present results of findings to program owners with the aim of providing a neutral evaluation, highlighting limitations of any analyses, and any identifiable areas/opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development of machine learning and AI models.

Position Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data science or analytics with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role at a strategic level.
  • Proven track record of driving data science initiatives that have significantly impacted business outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and advanced analytics.
  • Highly proficient with open-source statistical programming languages (e.g., R/Python) with an emphasis on causal analysis.
  • Highly proficient with SQL to extract and manipulate data from relational databases.
  • Strong presentation skills with an ability to highlight key findings for non-statisticians are a must.
  • Experience evaluating care management, value-based care programs, or similar healthcare providers is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing code and analyses following good software development practices (e.g., use of version control and following code review processes) preferred.
  • A sound understanding of data engineering processes and tools is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud computing providers preferred.
