Job Summary
Under general supervision, the psychiatric social worker provides direct social services to patients and
their families on the inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. The psychiatric social worker provides consultative and direct care to patients outside the inpatient psych unit with regard to legal proceedings around involuntary admission and treatment.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $61.13 - $61.13 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
St. Mary's Medical Center and associated outpatient clinics are now part of UCSF Health. This addition

Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in an acute psychiatric child/adolescent setting or residential facility.
- Minimum of two years experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents and their families.
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse race, ethnicity, and culture.
- Ability to conduct family, group and individual therapy.
- Working knowledge of community resources and referral agencies.
- California license in clinical social work or license eligible (LIC CSW).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in area of related field
- Bilingual in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Cambodian, Tagalog or Vietnamese.
License/Certification
- California license in clinical social work or license eligible (LIC CSW).
