Brief Summary of Role: This role will lead our independent agency development team. You will ensure current independent agent relationships are effective and successful and will develop new partnerships for Obie. To succeed in this role you’ll need to build and maintain relationships, maximize the growth potential of appointed agencies, utilize our software to increase agency engagement, and exceed sales growth objectives.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and prospect for new independent agent relationships and partners
- Strengthen relationships with current independent agency partners through ongoing contact and customer service
- Responsible for all facets of sales performance of our agency partners, ensuring agency partners meet or exceed established productivity standards
- Develop policies, objectives and initiatives for agency partners
- Create and execute relationship management strategies designed to maximize our agency partner’s effectiveness
- Generate opportunities to acquire new business through sales/service opportunities
- Ensure that products/services are competitively positioned in the market
- Build relationships with key independent agencies locally, regionally and nationally to assist in business development opportunities
- Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, Risk and Product teams to ensure partner needs and issues are addressed through to resolution and that we maximize our agency partners’ success
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop agency communication and marketing strategy
- Report agency metrics and pipeline to Chief Insurance Officer on a regular basis
- Develop onboarding and training processes for agency partners
What You'll Bring:
- 8+ years of P&C market experience. You have worked with independent agencies in the past (on an agency or carrier), and understand agents’ consideration when writing business with carriers
- Knowledge of the P&C market and competitor benchmarks; you are familiar with different insurance products and know how to deliver value propositions of carriers to insurance agents
- Proven track record of sales performance
- Excellent relationship-building skills; you are able to build effective relationships, both internally and externally, and navigate complex conversations
- Ownership mindset. You demonstrate drive, initiative, energy, and a sense of urgency
- Flexibility. You have the ability to work in ambiguity and adapt as we grow and expand
- P&C license preferred
