The new Director will have the exciting, fun, and challenging charge to:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to further enhance the City’s organizational culture;
  2. Focus on the long-term health of the organization for talent attraction, retention, and succession planning;
  3. Implement a Classification and Compensation Plan;
  4. Work with the Finance Department toward the development, deployment, and use of new technologies;
  5. Strengthen labor relations with bargaining groups;
  6. Motivate, inspire, lead, and manage organizational transformation, collaboration, and innovation.

The Human Resources Director must have a combination of education and experience that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the position. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, public administration, business administration, psychology, or a closely related field; and 8 years of increasingly responsible human resources management experience, including 2 years of management/administrative responsibility and labor relations experience. A Master’s degree is desirable and experience in a governmental setting is preferred. The annual salary range of the position is $180,022 to $270,034, and the City provides an excellent benefits package.
