Opportunity Overview:
Astound is currently seeking for a Data Center Technician for our Maryland data center. The Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of internal systems, workstations, and servers that support the day-to-day operations of all Astound offices. The Data Center Technician will provide responsive and efficient end user support on a variety of IT related issues.
A Day in the Life of the Data Center Technician:
- Provide first and second level support for problems relating to personal computers, printers, and other peripherals
- Install, maintain, enhance personal computers, peripherals and network server components
- Manage asset tracking system for all equipment
- Maintain and enhance server base security, backups and virus protection
- Participate in server/network hardware and software upgrade planning and implementation
- Provide second level support to sys-admins staff members as required
- Interact with other IT department's staff, senior management and vendors to resolve server/network related issues
- Periodic on-call after hours/weekend required
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Table:
- 3 - 5 years progressive experience working with computer hardware, software, peripherals
- 2+ years of experience with installing, maintaining, and managing major operating systems is required (MAC, MCSE, etc.)
- Prior experience with Ethernet switched environments, TCP/IP, DHCP, terminal emulation, client/server and internet concepts
- Telecommunications experience preferred
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical, communication and written skills with the ability to convey clear and concise thoughts and ideas
- Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs, including, but not limited to MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- Strong analytical ability to diagnose/repair computer/network problems
- Ability to be on call after hours and weekends
Education :
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Base Compensation: The base hourly range in Maryland for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hour plus opportunities for bonus and benefits. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to Maryland and may not be applicable to other locations.
