Seton Hall University seeks an innovative thinker/maker and trainer who is responsible for training on institutional software, and maker tools, such as VR, 3D printing and coding equipment (etc), This role will provide support to the entire SHU community, including faculty, students, and administrative staff by developing, coordinating, and facilitating technology training and maker activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and conduct training sessions and workshops for individuals or groups on maker space tools, equipment, and Seton Hall University-supported technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft OS, Adobe Creative, Canvas, Qualtrics, etc. Collaborate with the Instructional Design Team to integrate maker space concepts into academic courses. Offer assistance and guidance to students, faculty, and staff working on maker space projects. Facilitate collaboration between different departments and disciplines for interdisciplinary projects.
2. Ensure all maker space equipment is in proper working condition through regular maintenance and coordination with technical support staff. Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide timely solutions. Develop and implement safety protocols and 'how-to' tutorials for equipment usage. Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance the maker space's capabilities. Collaborate with PC Support Services to ensure the timely acquisition of necessary supplies. Stay informed about industry best practices, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
3. Create opportunities to increase digital literacy skills and engage students in the use of maker tools through workshops and events. Promote the maker space within the university community through outreach and promotional events. Establish partnerships with local industries, makers, and educational institutions to broaden the scope of maker space initiatives.
4. Maintain accurate records of maker space usage, equipment reservations, and training sessions. Generate reports on the impact and effectiveness of the maker space programs. Collaborate with IT Communication and Digital Media Team on the creation of documentation and tutorials for training and tools. Implement and maintain quality assurance measures and regularly update workshops and activities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technology, communication, or similar
Experience using maker tools (3D printing, virtual reality, etc.
1-3 years experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to locate resources.
Demonstrated experience in face-to-face and webinar-type instruction.
Must be able to communicate the material to all levels of users, from an executive to the most novice user.
Applicant must have a positive, friendly attitude, excellent listening skills, and patience.
Good writing skills.
Must be collaborative and a team player!
Applicant should possess sound organizational and data management skills.
