Job Description:
We are seeking a Structure Lead/Supervisor to lead our manufacturing team in constructing structural steel components at our Catoosa facility. This role involves overseeing production schedules, managing cost controls, and ensuring quality standards are met. A technical degree is preferred, but candidates with 10+ years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the manufacturing team and suppliers in constructing structural steel components.
  • Create and manage the production schedule, ensuring efficient operations.
  • Act as a “working” supervisor by welding and charging time to jobs accordingly.
  • Visit subcontract suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and timeliness align with expectations.
  • Uphold COF core values of safety, quality, schedule, and value.
  • Verify facility, equipment, and supplies are adequate to support operations.
  • Directly supervise shop personnel and manage staffing levels to maintain efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering, Purchasing, and Project Management to minimize costs and ensure on-time delivery.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of AWS and CWB standards is a plus.
  • Familiarity with structural steel welding procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints and specifications accurately.
  • Understanding of PQR and WPS requirements for workforce planning.
  • Effective supervisory and workforce management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with suppliers to ensure material availability.
  • Experience working within an ERP environment for scheduling and BOM requirements.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with sales, quality, engineering, and customers.
  • Ability to monitor ongoing job costs and make informed decisions.
  • Desire to mentor and improve the skill sets of the workforce.

Requirements:

  • Technical degree preferred or 10+ years of relevant welding and/or fabrication experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience operating MIG, TIG, and/or SAW welding equipment.
  • Understanding of labor and material costing elements for structural steel fabrication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Heavy steel fabrication shop environment with potential for multiple shifts.
  • Occasional travel between fabrication facilities.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk 10,000-20,000 steps per day.
