A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Patent Attorney to join their team in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or bio-sciences, coupled with experience in patent preparation and prosecution. This role requires excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills, along with superior attention to detail.

Key Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the areas of chemistry, chemical engineering, and bio-sciences.
  • Conduct thorough patentability searches and analyze technical documents.
  • Draft and review patent applications, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal standards.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their inventions and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Respond to office actions and correspond with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Provide legal opinions on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in patent laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm to deliver optimal client outcomes.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and provide ongoing patent-related legal counsel.
  • Assist in intellectual property litigation and enforcement matters as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar and in good standing.
  • Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Strong technical background in chemistry, chemical engineering, bio-sciences, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective legal solutions.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, bio-sciences, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar and in good standing.
  • Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
