A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemical Patent Attorney to join their team in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or bio-sciences, coupled with experience in patent preparation and prosecution. This role requires excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills, along with superior attention to detail.
Key Duties:
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the areas of chemistry, chemical engineering, and bio-sciences.
- Conduct thorough patentability searches and analyze technical documents.
- Draft and review patent applications, ensuring clarity and compliance with legal standards.
- Communicate with clients to understand their inventions and provide strategic legal advice.
- Respond to office actions and correspond with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Provide legal opinions on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in patent laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm to deliver optimal client outcomes.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide ongoing patent-related legal counsel.
- Assist in intellectual property litigation and enforcement matters as needed.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the State Bar and in good standing.
- Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Strong technical background in chemistry, chemical engineering, bio-sciences, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
- Excellent analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
- Superior attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide effective legal solutions.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, bio-sciences, or a related field.
Certifications:
- Admission to the State Bar and in good standing.
- Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
