As a trusted representative for our company and our clients with regulators and other policymakers, you’ll help ensure that the voice of investors is heard in Washington and around the world. Trusted policy advocacy and thought leadership is part of our identity, and as our Senior Policy Advisor, you’ll ensure we maintain it.


As a thought leader of the public policy team, you will:

Champion the development of Vanguard’s public policy positions on high-profile topics affecting asset managers in the U.S. and with multilateral bodies around the world. The role will engage with key regulatory bodies including, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Stability Board, the International Organization of Securities Commissions and other multilateral standard setting bodies. Lead the monitoring of regulatory changes, coordinate the development of strategies to advocate public policy goals, and influence trade association agendas and action plans. Lead conversations with Senior Leadership on the potential impact on our clients, the organization and all investors. Build and maintain strong working relationships with key governmental entities, professional and industry trade associations, and internal stakeholders. Manage the effective and timely communication of policy developments affecting various businesses and other stakeholders.

What it takes

  • Working knowledge of the regulatory structure for mutual funds including the 40 Act and regulations thereunder
  • Graduate degree (J.D, M.P.P., MBA)
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the financial services industry with working familiarity of public policy issues affecting mutual funds and their shareholders
  • Deep expertise with nonpartisan, policy analysis and critical thinking
  • Commitment to high quality, team-oriented process
  • Demonstrated track record of providing business-focused solutions that combine excellent judgment, creativity, risk-taking, and technical expertise
