Purpose of the job:

The Product Research Technologies group is responsible for end-user research within Enterprise R&D. The Product Researcher-Qualitative is responsible for designing, scoping, executing, and analyzing qualitative research studies to boost our ability to design, develop and deliver superior user-centered experiences across OC products, processes and services. They are a champion of Product Research and consult and develop various R&D teams across the Enterprise, to elevate the R&D organization's user-centered mindset and product research capabilities to accelerate product adoption and volume growth.

Reports to: Product Research Technology Leader

Span of control: Individual contributor

Job responsibilities:

  • User Experience
    • Lead and manage various qualitative research studies from design to analysis.
    • Translate insights into actionable recommendations for the Enterprise.
    • Partner with product/process development to execute on various products research initiatives, including consulting and training on methodology design and analysis.
    • Work with cross-functional teams including product management, commercial, and product/process development to shape and implement strategies to drive market conversion for new products, focusing on product research and user experience.
  • Organizational Development
    • Support Products Research capability development: embedding the Products Research toolkit into S&T through training and coaching.
    • Help to identify and build new capabilities for the team to enhance research methodologies and design processes.

  • Safety & Inclusion and Diversity
    • Ensures rigorous compliance to safety procedures and OC corporate policies.
    • Focuses on sustaining a physically and psychologically safe work environment for self and coworkers.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, or a related field.
    • Proven experience (5+ years) in product research, UX design, or a related role.
    • Ability to travel up to 30%, as needed.
    • Broad and deep toolbox of research methodologies, user testing, and data analysis.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging and influencing stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment while executing research studies and leveraging insights to influence strategy.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Experience planning and conducting design research with end-users in a B2B setting.
    • Demonstrated effectiveness in product launches.
    • Familiarity with a variety of quantitative research methods.
    • Multi-functional leadership skills (ability to manage across functions from product marketing, operations and other R&D functions).
