Job Description
The DDX Data Scientist is a strategic thought partner who can translate complex business questions into quantitatively defined and measurable analytics to assist stakeholders in Sherwin-Williams’ PSG Marketing Group.
This position is responsible for understanding business questions and using analytic tools and techniques to provide insights and recommendations.
This person can analyze and glean insights from data but can also move beyond the “what” to the “why” behind various trends.
Responsibilities
- Develops, interprets, and explains analytic findings to monitor customer purchase behavior and engagement to provide data-driven, actionable insights for improving customer acquisition, retention, and conversion across various channels.
- Ability to perform statistical modeling to derive insights from data, including the use of advanced machine learning modeling techniques.
- Supports the adoption of analytic best practices, the utilization of common tools and analytic disciplines needed to gauge effectiveness of customer experiences to inform decisions required to drive sales and grow market share.
- Extract, manipulate, and blend data from various sources to provide accurate and timely analytics to the business.
- Assists in the creation and completion of multivariate and A/B testing documents (from hypothesis creation to influencing creative to identifying success metrics) and post-test analysis.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility and comfort in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Able to work effectively in a fluid, matrixed environment and stand out as a successful collaborator.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a consultative mindset, with the ability to develop strong partnerships.
- Good problem-solving ability, managing uncertainty, and understanding interdependencies.
- Able to proactively connect the dots by asking thought-provoking questions.
- Objective when presenting insights and guiding decision-making; demonstrate good presentation skills by pairing sound analytics with storytelling.
- Motivated to continuously improve performance; outcomes-focused and driven to achieve objectives.
FORMAL EDUCATION:
- Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Marketing Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent work experience in analytics and training.
- Preferred:
- MBA or Graduate-level Degree.
- Required:
- 4+ years’ experience on an analytics team (preferably marketing analytics).
- Experience utilizing tools like Dataiku, H2O, DataRobot.
- Familiarity with statistical programming languages and statistical concepts.
- Expertise in building, evaluating, and deploying statistical/machine learning models.
- Experience working in databases with SQL related tools.
- Preferred:
- Experience working with Tableau or other BI Tools.
- Retail or CPG experience.
- Required:
- Ability to understand trends and metrics and convey the “so what” and the “now what.”
- Query and analyze data in large relational databases.
- Preferred:
- Create and present findings to leadership.
- Ability to build high-level dashboard reporting/extract data sets as needed.
- Python, R (or other) for statistical analytics.
