The Veterinary Medicine and Surgery department exists to serve MD Anderson research programs. Our primary mission is to provide the best possible veterinary care, facilities and services in support of the institutional animal care and use program, in keeping with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) accreditation standards.
Veterinary Medicine & Surgery
KEY FUNCTIONS
Equipment Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Performs equipment washing, sanitizing, sterilization, and quality assurance testing according to task guide.
  • Properly disassembles equipment prior to, and reassembles following sanitation.
  • Performs flushes of automated water system manifolds on racks using the rack manifold flush Station.
  • Performs flushes on recoil hoses using recoil hose flush station.
  • Collects soiled equipment and removal of trash daily.
  • Ensures cage washing equipment is working properly and report alarms and malfunctions to team leader or supervisor immediately.
Documentation
  • Records appropriate data in logbook or electronic task management system.
Facility / Room Care and Housekeeping
  • Cleans washroom daily.
  • Maintains washroom equipment and performs routine cleaning and maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Performs ancillary cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Performs basic housekeeping assignments in assigned and ancillary areas.
  • Restocks supplies at designated areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Required: None.
