POSITION SUMMARY : Under general supervision from the Senior Systems Engineer, the IT Server Technician serves as the primary backup to the Senior Systems Engineer in the capacity of support for various projects and other duties as delegated. In addition to assisting with projects, the IT Server Technician will assist with critical incidents that affect agency wide or entire site operations. The IT Server Technician will also be a primary support on various IT programs or functions to support their clients.

- Support Information System Security team with various projects as needed.
- Assist in maintaining system infrastructure, backup procedures, and disaster recovery processes.
- Assembles and installs hardware and builds and maintains server and desktop images.
- Optimizes physical and virtual server resource usage.
- Support Network Administrator with troubleshooting server, networking, and system functionality as assigned.
- Back-up Help Desk
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provide the highest possible level of service to clients;
- Promote teamwork and cooperative effort among employees;
- Maintain safe practices; and
- Abide by current NVIH's policies and procedures.
Experience and Skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their duties.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Higher education preferred
- 3 years' experience working as an IT Technician or in the IT field
- Experience working with active directory and Microsoft 365
- Knowledge of group policy, Microsoft server setup, maintenance, and clustering; and virtualization systems,
- Knowledge of basic switching, routing and subnetting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service by anticipating customer needs and leaving them feeling satisfied with their experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills in maintaining and enhancing effective, trusting work relationships.
- Adaptability to learn new IT concepts to enhance knowledge and customer experience.
- Reliable Transportation and ability to travel between sites as needed

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Sitting / Mobility: Approximately 50% of time is spent working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 50%) is spent moving around work areas.
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, Board members, members of outside agencies, in person, by telephone, and by email.
- Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, memos, and other appropriate paperwork.
- Lifting / Carrying: Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing no more than 50 pounds.
- Stooping / Kneeling: Ability to occasionally work in positions under desks setting up and troubleshooting hardware concerns or working on setting up servers.
- Reaching / Handling: Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies.
