Job Title: Chief Surveyor
Job Summary:
The Chief Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring accurate project modeling, field surveying, and data management. This position requires a strong understanding of survey principles, technology, and construction processes, particularly in bridge construction. The Chief Surveyor will also lead and train survey crews, advocate for safety, and communicate effectively with various project stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Modeling: Develop precise project models for layout, machine quantity surveys, and machine applications.
Survey Equipment: Procure, maintain, and track survey equipment and supplies.
Field Surveying: Conduct field surveys and layouts with accuracy and timeliness, ensuring proper documentation.
Crew Management: Supervise and coordinate survey crews to guarantee accurate project surveys.
Safety: Champion and adhere to safety procedures and policies.
As-Built Data: Collect and document as-built survey data.
Quantity Tracking: Determine, track, and calculate quantities for progress billing and forecasts.
Training: Provide training to project personnel in survey, machine control technology, and techniques.
Communication: Collaborate with office staff, project management, and field management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bridge Experience: Significant experience in bridge projects and survey modeling is essential.
Software Proficiency: Expertise in P6, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Sage, TimberScan, and Trimble software.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage survey crews.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Safety-Oriented: Committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
Additional Information:
Travel: This position requires approximately 30% field work, including periodic job site visits. Travel requirements may vary depending on project needs.
Bilingual: Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred but not required.
Compensation: Salary range: $110,000 - $135,000 annually
