Position Summary:
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Deputy Director. Reporting to the Director, this position will serve as second-in-command at Express Newark, a socially engaged art and design center at Rutgers University – Newark. This position will take on a significant scope of responsibility in this newly created leadership role. Broadly, this position will function as the senior advisor and strategic partner to the Director, and share responsibility for the general operations of Express Newark.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Oversees organization, direction, and administration of various business services of Express Newark.
- Assist with the financial administration and operations of Express Newark, administrative oversight of Human Resources, Facilities, Visitor Services, Security, Special Events, Communications, Publications, and Registrars.
- Represent Express Newark to key stakeholders, including the Advisory Board, the Senior Management, and individual, foundation, and corporate donors, alongside the Creative Director.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in business administration, art history, fine arts, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
- At least 5 years of senior management experience and the proven ability to lead teams and indirectly manage multiple stakeholder groups, both internal and external.
