Role description:

Arcadis is excited to announce an opportunity within their US Pharma, Advanced Process Manufacturing Division (“APM”). We are looking for a highly experienced and inspirational leader to lead the business development efforts in the US Pharma, APM, Philadelphia operation. This is a senior role and provides an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to help drive a growing business. The successful candidate will report directly to the Business Director, US Pharma, APM, Philadelphia.

The primary role of the Vice President of Business Development is to prospect for new clients by utilizing their personal network and leveraging our existing client base to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. This person will be responsible for all Business Development within the US Pharma, APM, Philadelphia operation. You will also collaborate closely with the business development leads for the other US Pharma APM operations/locations to ensure optimization of our combined global strategy footprint in Global Pharma.

Role Accountabilities:

  1. Lead and manage a team of Business Development and Marketing professionals to obtain business and drive growth.
  2. Work closely with Operations and Technical teams to ensure all proposals, client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities are clearly communicated and supported.
  3. Implement long-term APM strategic goals, build key customer relationships, and identify business opportunities.
  4. Work with and lead internal teams to ensure timely, accurate, and impactful proposals, presentations, qualifications, and winning strategies are maintained and expanded.
  5. Proactively develop business opportunities with potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  6. Make regular presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict clients’ future needs.
  7. Plan and deliver persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential clients to do business with Arcadis.
  8. Collaborate with internal colleagues across Arcadis to grow sales opportunities and maximize revenue.
  9. Help manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive.
  10. Retain and grow existing accounts by presenting new solutions and services.
  11. Strategic planning is a key part of this role; it is the Vice President of Business Development’s responsibility to develop a strong and consistent pipeline of new business. This requires thorough knowledge of the Local and Regional Life Science market, the solutions/services which APM can provide, and those of our competitors.
  12. Support efforts to further improve the Arcadis brand recognition and awareness.
  13. Maintain a high level of activity within Professional Societies and Industry Associations.
  14. Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the Business Operation’s clients and the market to identify key trends and emerging opportunities.
  15. Develop relationships throughout Arcadis to foster cooperation and to maximize opportunities to cross-sell and trade-up.

Additionally, working closely with Country Division BU Director and Business Operations Managers you will identify and prioritize the development of growth plans for key client accounts. Your leadership will contribute and improve the health of the organisation and our corporate responsibility and will be measurable through diversity, inclusivity, equity, employee satisfaction, and retention.

  1. A thorough knowledge of and substantial network within the Local and Regional Life Science market.
  2. Relevant education and qualifications relating to engineering, business, or a related area.
  3. Highly experienced with extensive knowledge of the global advanced manufacturing sector and related markets, including clients, opportunities, trends, legislative, technological change.
  4. Experience leading and inspiring high-performing teams and finding creative solutions to complex problems.
  5. Driving high performance from teams, communicating vision and purpose, engaging others, and ensuring aligned objectives.
  6. Ability to bring people on a journey of transformation, creating a sense of stability and security in uncertain times, avoiding change fatigue.
