About the Role
The Manager, Conventional & Rolling Stock Pricing , will oversee all aspects of pricing for these commodity segments including, but not limited to: multi-trade quoting, preparing detailed analysis in conjunction with Operations, and determining appropriate margins. The candidate will need a thorough knowledge of cargo handling costs, including vessel slots/voids, stowage, and terminal costs at each location. The Manager will prepare the appropriate quotation after capturing any/all costs associated with the move to include intermodal shipments, possibly arranged by our sister company, Matson Logistics. The position will need to work well with a multitude of internal stakeholders, ensuring expected margins are commensurate of the total move from origin to destination, including any voided vessel slots. Since this will be covering multi-trades, the Manager will need to be well-versed in all applicable services moving conventional & rolling stock freight for Matson.
What you'll do:
- Evaluate conventional & rolling stock rate proposals for pricing actions while gathering full cost details from internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and file documents consistent with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Consult with other areas of the organization such as Operations, Law, Sales, Customer Service, and Marketing to ensure the company's best interests are protected in pricing matters.
- Respond to bids in formats dictated by clients.
- Research, prepare, maintain documents for contracts, and trucking agreements as needed
- Review continuously, the Company's revenue and contribution goals
You have these skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel
- Proficiency with Matson systems, including GATES and Tableau
- Analytical capabilities
- Written and verbal communication skills
And these qualifications:
- Degree in transportation, business administration, and/or previous industry experience
- Minimum 7 years' experience in pricing, sales, customer service, or operations for an ocean transportation business.

The annual salary range for this position in California is $111,300 - $151,500. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
