This position will require employees to be at the office one day a week and to complete visits to different Children's National locations.

The Assistant Director, Annual Giving reports to the Director of Annual Giving and plays a key role in increasing unrestricted revenue for the Foundation. This position is responsible for managing the strategy and execution of the internal Children’s National Employee Giving program, as well as managing the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of prospects giving $1,000 - $10,000 annually to upgrade donors within Leadership Annual Giving levels and qualify donors for Major and Planned Gifts. In addition, the Assistant Director will support broader Annual Giving cultivation and stewardship efforts, projects and initiatives as needed. The Assistant Director, Annual Giving is responsible for raising $750,000 annually, with a focus on unrestricted revenue.

Qualifications


Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or other related field (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
4 years of technical development experience with a proven record in lower level major gifts, high end annual gifts or special event execution, or managing a component of the marketing program preferably in a healthcare or academic setting (Required)

Strong written and verbal communication skills (including phone skills such as warm tone, good speaking cadence, clear and articulate speech)

Strong familiarity with The Raiser's Edge software and/or other donor-related platforms

Functional Accountabilities
Fundraising

  • Manage applicable giving programs, including strategy, budget, communications, solicitations, and oversight of data tracking.
  • Executes donor strategy effectively through phone, email, mail, and face-to-face communication.
  • Conducts meaningful touches or face-to-face donor meetings per year.
  • Renews 80% of assigned donors on an annual basis.
  • Secures new or upgraded annual donors at $5,000+ annually.
  • Identifies Major Gifts and Planned Giving prospects annually and contribute to successful transfer of donors.
  • Learns about the programs of Children’s National and effectively communicate the mission to donors.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner with donors and colleagues.

Research

  • Researches, identifies, and promotes hand-off of high capacity donors to the appropriate Foundation Gift Officer.
  • Updates fundraising database with contact notes, new information about donors and outcomes.
