HDR is currently seeking a Leader for Building Information Modeling (BIM) project planning, project BIM management, and technical execution to contribute to the development and implementation of BIM in support of a major Healthcare Project in the Bay Area. The successful candidate will be required to reside in California for the duration of the project and will work in a Big Room team environment leading and managing BIM-related activities for the duration of the project.
The ideal candidate will be expected to develop and lead efforts relating to BIM and supporting the overall vision and initiatives of the Project. The candidate must be experienced in helping project teams plan and manage BIM project teams and skilled in the development of BIM execution strategies. Fundamental to this position will be a working knowledge of the Architectural design process and uses of BIM and design technology in different stages. In addition, the Project team seeks candidates with experience in the practical application of BIM and design technologies to support collaboration and effective coordination of whole building design in an integrated delivery approach. The ability to work effectively with a variety of groups and experience levels, while leading the Project in the development and implementation of computation is a must. Successful candidates will be responsible for developing and strengthening connections with project partners and project leadership, and the project team as a whole. This role reports to both the San Francisco HDR office and a nearby client Construction & Design Center offsite.
Primary Responsibilities
BIG Room Functions:
- Manage all BIM related tasks and duties for the project
- Manage BIM and computation/data integration for the project
- Manage Data and FM requirements and integration for the project
- Manage BIM requirements and deliverables for the project
- Manage Coordination requirements for the project
- Manage BIG Room BIM and computation team
- Develop and integrate successful project strategy in collaboration with project partners
- Manage clear and consistent communication with all project members
- Other specific responsibilities to be developed as needed
Services
- Directly oversee key strategic processes and the implementation of BIM execution on the project
- Develop and assist in the understanding of project execution planning and BIM execution strategies
- Adhere to company Digital Delivery standards, including enforcement of model health maintenance, production & design standards, technology platforms, guidelines, and workflows
- Advise project leadership and project Principals in early stage BIM planning efforts
- Engage with project management and project leadership to maintain awareness of current and future project needs for BIM for the project
Applied R&D
- Participate in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of design technology and workflows for use on the project
- Stay informed of the latest industry trends with regards to BIM technology
Policy
- Responsible for supporting and maintaining project strategies, goals, communication, and interactions key to the success of the project
Communication
- Develop and integrate a strong/recurring meeting and coordination schedule for the project
- Lead weekly BIG room BIM meetings
- Lead weekly Coordination meetings
- Maintain communication with project team and leadership
- Provide timely resolution to project team's troubleshooting and coordination requests
- Maintain communications with assigned offices and Digital Practice Leaders in support of the project
- Develop and integrate training sessions, as needed, for project
- Develop needed BIM workshops, onboarding, and communication plans for the project
- Maintain clear communication with Client/Owner Leadership, their BIM Leadership, FM Leadership, and BIM FM leadership
- Document and record decisions and direction in accessible project document
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Technical School Degree, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum 10 years industry experience.
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit 3D Modeling, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to prepare drawings and details
- Experience within the AEC industry and client standards for BIM
- Experience leading cross-discipline all team BIM execution
- Familiarity with project management related to BIM
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
- Minimum 10 years AEC industry experience including large scale, complex projects in the domains of Healthcare typologies
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- Familiarity with Rhino and Dynamo is preferred
- Aptitude toward technology and analytical problem-solving skills
- Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required

The expected compensation range for this position is $100,555.00 - $143,650.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
