What We Do/Project

As a VDI Infrastructure Engineer, you will be an expert in architecting, designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining our company’s virtual desktop platforms. Our VDI footprint consists of Client Horizon that is deployed on-premises and in the cloud. This platform is responsible for supporting a large range of business stakeholders and workloads from general computing to resource intensive development applications. The VDI Infrastructure engineer will bring a high-level of expertise in the administration of Client Horizon, Windows, and Linux desktop operating systems. You will be responsible for all areas of the VDI lifecycle including management, provisioning, triage, monitoring, and decommissioning of individual VDIs and associated technologies. This position involves support of VDI technologies and end-users across various locations across the globe.

Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role

  1. Architect, build, maintain, and support virtual desktop delivery platforms based on technical requirements provided by application, systems and business stakeholders.
  2. Responsible for administering scalable virtual desktop infrastructure in both a private and public cloud environment.
  3. Manage and maintain Horizon View desktop pools, application pools, and user entitlements.
  4. Handles Tier 3 (complex) issues providing advanced support and triage of end-to-end virtualized environments; Works with the vendor as needed.
  5. Provision and configure Horizon, Unified Access Gateway (UAG), connection Servers, and end-user VDI desktop images.
  6. Assist with critical patching and vulnerability remediations.
  7. Create and maintain documentation. Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology trends.
  8. Responsible for basic management of server hardware and storage solutions that power the VDI footprint.
  9. Participates in all application integration design sessions.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

  1. Client/Omnissa Horizon experience
    • Build out Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  2. Windows Desktop/ Operating experience
    • Tune windows operating systems for VDI.
  3. Cloud Experience
    • Omnissa/Client Horizon experience in Azure.

Nice to Have Skills / Requirements

  1. Experience with vCenter and vSphere ESXi.
  2. Experience with scripting/coding automation tools and technologies.
  3. Experience in Azure cloud environments and Horizon Control Plane 2.0.
  4. PowerCLi, PowerShell, Python, and/or Bash scripting coursework or experience is desirable.
  5. MySQL/MSSQL a plus.

Soft Skills

  1. Ability to analyze, optimize and troubleshoot system performance issues in a desktop environment.

Education / Certifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Interview Process / Next Steps

  1. 1-hour interview with HM – technical, culture fit.
  2. Second round with upper-level management – 15mins-30mins.
