The Job/What You'll Do:
The Director, Experience Design will collaborate and drive the firm’s creative strategy and lead initiatives that help to amplify and elevate the voice and brand of AssetMark. This role is a big-picture leader who guides their team to support and build the brand. This role must be able to art direct, support, inspire, and lead a team, drive the brand, adhere to timelines, problem solve and ultimately, create the strategy around the visual brand and story for the company.
This is a full-time position in our Concord, CA office with a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to synthesize complex information and processes into a concise brand message/story that resonates with prospects and clients across all marketing channels, event experiences and activations, and other company initiatives.
- Gain a solid grasp of the advisor lifecycle and experience with AssetMark to guide the direction of the brand message, ensuring it aligns with AssetMark’s leadership strategy and filters up to support the overall brand message and story.
- Develop and drive the overall creative vision and strategy for the company’s brand and design initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments to gain support and work to elevate the brand from both a visual and story perspective across all channels company wide.
- Synthesize directives from AssetMark leadership to find innovative design solutions that support ever-changing corporate goals for growth.
- Oversee creating and maintaining a consistent and compelling internal and external brand message and identity that aligns with the company’s values, objectives, and strategy.
- Work cross-functionally and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create consistent creative output via various channels.
- Oversee creative team and their respective specialties in design, content, and video to lead, support, and manage a team of talented creatives, fostering an environment rich with feedback, teamwork, collaboration, positivity, and innovation.
- Ensure all creative processes are efficient, deliverables align to brand guidelines and voice, and produced in a timely manner that meets the company's needs.
- Coach team members on how to excel and develop their competencies. Foster growth and professionalism.
- Meet with all team members regularly and formally review team members’ performance bi-annually.
- Evolve and expand brand guidelines as needed.
- Steward the brand voice to ensure consistency across all channels.
- Ensure all creative assets adhere to the brand guidelines and voice as they evolve.
- Competitive analysis of the AssetMark brand in the financial services space and ensure the brand evolves in an innovative and relevant way.
- Oversee management of relationships and budgeting with external agencies, contractors, and vendors, ensuring all deliverables are aligned with the company brand.
- Understand AssetMark’s market presence, ensure differentiation, drive customer engagement and loyalty, and ultimately increase market share.
- Informing market research and creating and clarifying brand inputs into brand architecture, brand identity, product offerings and service roadmaps, and campaign development to positively shift perceptions, influence desired customer behavior, and grow the business.
- Monitor and analyze brand performance metrics, Monitor and optimize brand performance across the board.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of events and experience design (required).
- Deep understanding of brand voice, strategy, and identity design.
- Ability to unify messaging, visuals, and strategy into a voice/personality that distinguishes the company from its competitors.
- Strong creative vision with a focus on immediate and longer-term business goals.
- Wide range of creative capabilities to flex into art direction, content strategy, video production, and experiential.
- Knowledge of current industry design trends and the latest technologies.
- A strong portfolio showcasing branding, content strategy, and video production demonstrates a strong point of view and great design aesthetic.
- Foundational design knowledge including typography, color theory, composition, layout, design principles, user interface/web, digital and print specifications.
- Solid presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build support and influence internal and external stakeholders, as well as C-level executives and upper management firmwide.
- Proficient Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Keynote, Microsoft Office and marketing analytics tools.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7-10 years working in an in-house studio or at agencies.
- 5-8 years leading, inspiring, and managing a team of creatives across a wide range of creative disciplines, including content and video.
- External relationship experience with agencies, vendors, and contractors, including budgeting and scope management skills.
- Financial services / financial industry experience and understanding of finance a plus.
- Experience in Content Strategy, and Multi-media (preferred).
Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $130,000-$150,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
