Position: Data Specialist

Reports To: Counseling Department Director

Status: Full-Time Regular, Exempt

Position Summary: The Data Specialist will be responsible for the coordination of community-based participatory research methods, assessment requirements, and local evaluation efforts. The salary for this position is funded by Native Connections, CA Reducing Disparities, Red Vision, and Culture is Prevention grants.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates procedures, protocols, and methods to assist program staff in the process and products required in grant activities.
  • Inputs and retrieves information of prevention service program participants.
  • Administers and prepares reports (monthly, quarterly, etc.) and analysis of information entered into the database to measure progress on goals and objectives.
  • Meets with Project Director to update on the latest participant information and progress.
  • Awareness and respect for Native American culture.
  • Analyzes the quality indicators to enable interpretation.
  • The results and measurements of indicators should be presented to the users of the information in a formal process and on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Reviews/updates shall include the indicators monitored, key findings/priority issues identified, improvement action plan/plans for further action, and state whether goals were met.
  • Assists with Prevention program management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Data collection, or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in community-based participatory approach.
  • Strong working knowledge of the American Indian community a plus.
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Appropriate written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and result-oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time, to work individually and in a team.
  • Required travel to project conferences and local meetings and events as needed.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extensive periods of time.
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to accomplish the duties associated with your job description.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to all patient elements, including communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens. Will be working in a fast-paced finance environment which can be stressful and constantly changing conditions. Normal working hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with one hour for lunch although hours may vary depending upon need. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes evening, weekend, and holiday hours, as appropriate. Will need to be flexible in performing tasks with limited discretion in making judgment decisions.
