Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Golf Course Operations Manager is responsible for managing services in various food and beverage outlets and Proshop.

Responsibilities

  • Manage dining room operations to ensure room is properly setup (tables, chairs, etc.). Ensure service staff are in proper uniform.
  • Manage bar and alcoholic beverage control.
  • Control food and beverage costs.
  • Maximize food and beverage sales by identifying and targeting sales opportunities.
  • Enforce policies requiring the confirmation of legal drinking age and discontinue service to intoxicated guests.
  • Implement and support initiatives and programs requested by management.
  • Manage inventory, perform monthly inventory count.
  • Order food, beverages, and supplies based on the need of the business on a weekly basis.
  • Manage golf shop staff in activities including checking in members and guests, selling merchandise, processing cash and credit card transactions, and managing reservations.
  • Serve customers in the pro shop and supervise inventory control.
  • Maintain the pro shop environment by keeping the shop neat and orderly, straightening and stocking merchandise.
  • Follow corporate guidelines for opening and closing duties, cash handling, and transaction recording.
  • Respond to member and guest service issues.
  • Perform management functions in absence of General Manager.
  • Assist the General Manager in the facilitation of staff meetings.
  • Other duties may be assigned by management as necessary.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must be of legal age to sell and serve alcoholic beverages; applicable state card or certificate must be provided if required by state law.
  • Experience in resolving customer issues/complaints as well as overall excellent customer service required.
  • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively build and foster a team environment.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Basic math skills and experience handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Experience handling customer service issues with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with little or no direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of recreational operations and golf course maintenance preferred.

Education

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in customer service role within the hospitality industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience in golf, hospitality, or service industry required.

Working Conditions

  • Operations Manager may be required to fill in as server, Proshop attendant, etc. to relieve staff during peak service hours, or to cover breaks.
  • Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May need to lift to 50 pounds.
