PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The F.A.C. E. Liaison works to bridge the gap between home and school by helping parents get the information and support they need to ensure their child's academic and social success.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  1. High school diploma or GED certificate
  2. Must be bilingual (Spanish & English)
  3. Must be able to keep flexible hours
  4. Must have vehicle, insurance, valid current Texas Drivers license and current Texas inspection sticker
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  1. Good communication skills
  2. Demonstrate basic literacy skills
  3. Ability to speak, read, and write English and Spanish
  4. Demonstrate a desire to work with parents at all capacities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  1. Fully understands all federal regulations pertaining to the parental involvement program and support services (Ex: migrant, bilingual, special education, career and technical education)
  2. Serves as a liaison between school and parents in matters pertaining to academics, attendance and meetings as requested by principal, counselor or teacher.
  3. Actively initiates and engages parents in parental involvement activities and Title I requirements.
  4. Maintains documentation on all parental involvement activities (Ex: invitations, agendas, minutes, parent surveys, evaluations) and Title I requirements (Ex: Campus parental involvement policy, school/parent compact, Annual Title I meeting).
  5. Facilitates, a minimum of two (2) meetings per month, in English and Spanish, for parents of participating students on all federal and state mandates, and topics of public interest, to build parent capacity and increase awareness.
  6. Develops and implements parental involvement activities to increase participation of parents.
  7. Conducts home visits, as directed, to provide eligible parents an opportunity for participation in their child's school program, continually striving to maintain positive communication.
  8. Recruits parents for all school related activities, including but not limited to, the District Advisory Council, Parent Advisory Council, Site Based Decision Making Committee, and School Volunteer Program to maximize parent participation.
  9. Makes proper referrals to community agencies that can assist in providing support services to eligible children or their families, as needed.
  10. Contacts parents using a variety of methods, including but not limited to, telephone calls, emails, texts, and school notifications to ensure parents, of participating children, are provided with school related information on a school notifications to ensure parents, of participating children, are provided with school related information on a timely basis.
  11. Provides monthly reports detailing all parental involvement activities to ensure Title I compliance.
  12. Serves as a translator for parent/teacher conferences.
  13. Facilitates the use of technology for parent programs.
  14. Attends all meetings and training sessions relevant to assignment.
  15. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.
